If you need a set of random numbers in Microsoft Excel, you will find that generating random numbers is easier said than done, especially if the random numbers must be unique. Our Random Number Generator allows you to perform this task quickly and easily. The following screen shot shows how easy it is to fill in:
If you select the first option, you are prompted for how many random numbers to generate, the starting and ending values and if the numbers should be unique. If you select the second option, the following dialog appears, which lets you select the destination range (as multiple separate cells or ranges) and other key settings:
If you select the third option, this lets you generate many random numbers in multiple columns, the following dialog appears instead:
As the above illustrate, you control the starting and ending values, the number of random numbers generated, and the destination of the values. You have the option to make the numbers unique and to generate random number across many columns so that you can create a large table of random numbers. Or, select just a range of cells and have it filled with random numbers. When you click OK on the above dialogs you are asked if there are numbers you wish to exclude from the set of random numbers that will be generated. If you respond yes, you can select a range of cells containing the numbers to exclude. The list that is generated will then exclude the numbers in the cells you selected.
